EL LEGADO CONTINÚA
THE ORIGIN
This wonderful place was discovered many years ago by Fernando ‘Wawa’ Paraud, a famous and legendary Peruvian surfer who was a champion several times in Big Waves events and a pioneer of kiteboarding in Peru.
Fernando was also always recognized for his friendliness, good vibes, and charging spirit in everything he did; from spearfishing and big wave surfing to kiteboarding and more.
He always had an intense spirit of adventure and exploration. It was during his travels in northern Peru that he discovered this treasure and kept it a secret for many years.
He studied the location, the wave, and how it behaved with each swell. He named it Punta Luna and built his 100% sustainable house
He witnessed and brought to light the impact of humans on this ecosystem. It was through his efforts that the entire Illescas Peninsula was designated a national protected area, turning him into a legend of environmental conservation, among other things.
Wawa was determined that Punta Luna should be a protected area and documented all the wildlife in the surroundings. Andean condors, among others, were a great motivation for him, as Punta Luna is home to a large colony of them.
THE TEAM
The lodge is managed by Martin Vari, a three-time world kiteboarding champion and a close friend of Wawa. Along with his family, they spend several months of the year at Punta Luna.
